Congratulations to the Masconomet Regional High School Theater Company on their amazing run in the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild High School Theater Festival. Competing for the first time, they’ve made it all the way to the state finals! MEF is pleased we could help pay for production and transportation costs.
$25,000 Already Awarded in 22′- 23 School Year
MEF is off to a fast start this year with over $25,000 in grants awarded to educators at the high school and middle school. Over the last several years MEF focused on technology investments – providing over $40,000 for 3D printers, laser cutters, Arduino prototype platforms, weather stations, Electrophoresis systems, and equipment for an outdoor life sciences classroom. This year, with field trips and workshops back, the teachers want our students to have experiences outside the classroom that expand and enforce what they’re learning day-to-day at school. Here’s a list of what MEF funded so far this academic year:
- Field trip to Koch Institute Galleries and the Broad Institute at MIT (Psychology Club): Students learned about leading-edge brain research, including investigations of chemo-resistant cancers, Alzheimer’s Disease, and schizophrenia.
- Field trip to BU Medical School (Anatomy Students): Tours of various labs including the gross anatomy lab
- Field trip to Museum of Fine Arts (Senior French Students): By touring the European galleries, these students can see, in person, the works of French artists they’ve been researching in class.
- Field trip to Harvard Art Museum (AP Spanish and Art Students): Students will tour a special exhibit “From the Andes to the Caribbean: American Art from the Spanish Empire.”
- Workshop with Nathan Hale: Middle School history, ELA, and art students have the opportunity to work with this New York Times best-selling graphic novelist.
- Masconomet Theater Company’s participation in the Massachusetts Education Theater Guild 2023 High School Theater Festival
- Startup costs for the Middle School Bike Repair and Maintenance Club: This is a new club teaching mechanical skills and bike knowledge while instilling the value of learning work with meaning.
- Field trip to North Shore Music Theatre’s production of “Romeo and Juliet” (Freshmen Class)

DECA
DECA helps develop future leaders in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. Last year Masco’s DEC program had 74 students participate in a statewide competition with six Masco students moving on to the national competition in Atlanta, GA. MEF provided funds to help cover both competitions’ registration, travel, and lodging.
